Congratulations
to David Bluthenthal who is this month’s Team
to Win Athlete of the Month.
David is a senior at Westchester High School who led the Comet Basketball
team to the Los Angeles City Championship and then the school’s
first State Championship on Saturday, March 21, 1998.
David has had an incredible year that began with arthroscopic knee
surgery in December. This unexpected event set David back and resulted
in him missing several games. David worked harder than ever to rehabilitate
his knee and was dedicated to attending therapy 4-6times a week.
David also developed tendinitis in both knees and worked on strengthening
and getting therapy till the very end of a long season.
“David is the most dedicated athlete I
have ever worked with. At the end of every practice and game, without
hesitation, David would be wrapping his knees with ice. He has taken
his injuries as an opportunity to learn about his body and become
very conscious of treating and preventing injuries” states
Gina Perez, athletic trainer.
All of his hard work and dedication is paying off as David has been
named by the Daily Breeze newspaper, Player
of the Year and is receiving
various recognition and honors. He will be attending USC
in the fall on a Basketball scholarship. This young man is well
deserving of all the honors coming his way. Congratulations!!!! |
